We don’t just do cars. We keep trucks going all through the night as well. Check out the upgrades to this Hino FD we added recently.
KEY FEATURES
The following is the gear we used:
DESCRIPTION:
This truck got the full upgrade with additions to its lighting, communications and dc to dc battery charging.
The two STEDI Type-X Pros have a massive 1.15km light distance throw straight down the road giving awesome visibility at night. We combined this with the ST3303 light bar, nicknamed “The Savage”, containing 32x 10W CREE XM-L2 LED’s driven by 16.4A of drive current through to the emitters. The result is truly astonishing light volume for as far as the eye can see. You can see a comparison of this, and other LED light bars, here.
We threw in the STEDI C-4 cube flood light at the rear for good measure. The homogenous flood beam gives a smooth, almost cloudy, light distribution making it ideal as a near-field work light or reversing light.
Keeping the batteries charged to power all this gear is the REDARC BCDC2420, a 24 Volt 20 Amp DC to DC charger. The BCDC2420 features a multi-stage charging algorithm. With a 24V charging output it is perfectly suited to trucking applications such as charging battery banks for tailgate lifters and side curtains.
The BCDC2420 also features a MPPT Solar Regulator, which means 12V solar panels can be used to charge your batteries. With no fan, this charger operates super quietly.
